The Difference 42 Pounds Makes

This has been my third year to serve as camp director for BARL's Dog Days of Summer Camp.  Physically it was my most successful year as I was not lugging around quite as much weight as in previous summers.  It felt good to be able to keep up with the kids!  By this time next year, I know I'll be another sixty pounds lighter and can't wait to see the difference that amount of weight loss will make in my ability to really play hard with the campers.

As for other differences that forty-two pounds have made in my daily life, here are a few:

  1. My nine year old son can wrap his arms all the way around me to give me a hug.
  2. I can comfortably cross my legs.
  3. I can run.
  4. I can snuggle up close to my husband at night to rest my head on his shoulder.
  5. My five year old son can sit in my lap. - I actually have one now.
  6. I don't feel like I need to hide behind my husband in public.  I am not ashamed.
  7. I'm not always hungry anymore.
  8. I've gone from a size 24 to a size 18.
  9. I like shopping for clothes for the first time since before my firstborn's arrival.
  10. I have energy... sometimes.  (Fibromyalgia still makes that a difficulty, but it's improved.)
  11. I can sit Indian style.
  12. I can get up off the floor with ease.
  13. I can play with my kids.
  14. I have received compliments on my appearance for the first time in YEARS.  That feels really good.
  15. I have a renewed faith in myself and in my abilities.  I am more than a conqueror!!
I am so glad that God's grace continues to sustain me in this journey.  I'm excited by how far I've come and am actually excited knowing that I will make it the rest of the way to my goal - knowing full-well that "He who began a good work is faithful to complete it"!!!

Just Another Day in Paradise

Brookhaven Animal Rescue League is hosting its third annual summer camp this week. We are having the best time! Monday we had a canine unit and a groomer. Tuesday brought us agility handlers and a search and rescue team. Today we were greeted by Percy King and his exotic animals.

I'm not sure if the kids are having fun, but I, for one, am having a blast!!!
