Purina Pet Gear

Our friends at Purina have released a new line of pet products: Purina Pet Gear.  With Purina being a favorite brand at the Love Shack Pack, we were delighted to receive a few of the products to review.

Purina sent us a goodie box that contained:
1.  Ultra dry training pads.
2.  Carpet and Upholstery pet stain and odor eliminator.
3.  Giant pet hair roller.

We always keep a supply of 'piddle pads' on hand as Ohno and Joy are prone to accidents when left unattended for too long.  We really like the Purina training pads because of their super duper absorbency.  The size of the pad is 'paw'fect to accommodate the doggie doodies....arg, I mean DUTIES.

"Gee, Mom.  What's a dog gotta do to get a lil privacy 'round here?"

The Carpet & Upholstery spray also proved to be pure, Purina quality.   It easily and efficiently cleans a mess and leaves behind a clean, fresh smell.  We've found it useful for dog accidents as well as general messes made by the little humans.
Perhaps our favorite product included was the Purina Giant Fur Remover.  For a home that has seven dogs (five of which are Golden Retrievers), fur becomes part of everyday life.  Years ago mom ditched her favorite black clothing articles knowing that black attire and Golden Retrievers just don't mix.  So to test out the fur remover, we really put it to the test.

BIG, CREAM COLORED BOONDOCKS ON A BLACK SEAT COVER.

What a MESS!!

A couple of swipes with the fur remover, and voila, a clean BLACK SEAT!!

Yep, we'll never leave home without a Purina Fur Remover again.  Mom might even start wearing black again!!

With a large selection to choose from, you are sure to find what you need for most of your basic pet needs.  For more information on these Purina products and others, and to find a guide to locating these items in your area visit: Purina Pet Gear.

News Worth Sniffing

My mom is news obsessed.  It might be that she majored in journalism in college and those 'hound-sniffing' days never completely passed her.  Whatever the case, she always loves, loves, loves reading real life stories of animals from every day life.  Today we wanted to share some of the stories we've read this week that are worth the time to sniff out and enjoy.

First up - The story of the Georgia pooch, Honey Bun, that ate $10,000 worth of diamonds at her owner's jewelry store.

This is what I'm saying about it:  If dog's are man's best friend and diamonds are a girl's best friend, then isn't Honey Bun a pooch everyone can agree on??  You can read more about that story here.

Did you know that zoo animals predicted the earthquake in Washington earlier this week?  Some began acting irritated and retreating to higher ground some fifteen minutes before the earth shook.  What do they know that those humans don't?  You can read the full report on FoxNews.

"GRRRR---"

And perhaps the most touching story of the week is the one of fallen Navy SEAL hero, Jon Tumilson, and his beloved dog, Hawkeye.  You know, a picture is worth a thousand words and this one speaks for itself.  So we'll leave you with it.  (You can read more at MSNBC.)

"Good boy, Hawkeye.  Good boy."

Y'all stop back by.  Tomorrow we are reviewing some of Purina's new pet products, and Saturday we are going to share all the PROM news.  You won't want to miss it!

Word(less) Wednesday - RAIN!!

We had a 15 minute rain shower here the other day.  Rain has been a scarce commodity around these parts this year.  We dogs hardly knew what to think.  Neither did the two legged kids.

We did learn though that Rain + Dry Ground = MUD!!!

LOTS OF MUD!!!

Wet Stuff?  Falling from the sky??  AWESOME!!!

Scarlet was so excited she knocked Connor down.

The rest of the gang went to make sure he was okay.

I was too busy enjoying the mud to stop and see.

He must've been alright.  A few minutes later he was throwing mud balls at his sister.

Isaac got a bit dirty.  FUN!!!

Cosmo likes the mud stuff too!

Have I mentioned that I really LOVE mud???!!!

These guys would rather watch than join in.  Mom says they're smart.  I think they're wimps!

Oh, and mom says I have to tell you that our yard is mostly grass.  This is just the area we keep dug up - so we can have MUD!!!!

A Little Bit of This and A Little Bit of That

Wowsers!  Things sure have been busy around The Love Shack lately - mostly cause the human kids started back to school.  Only they don't "go" to school.  They do school here at home at The Love Shack.  Mom and Dad are their teachers but sometimes we doggies help out too.

Here's Cosmo telling Isaac the answers in Math.

Next week Scarlet gets to go to the big school up the road for the kids to read to her.  She's so lucky.  I can't wait to take my TDI test where I can go all the time too.  Mom was real excited when a package arrived from Oliver, Tanner, and Carrie at All Things Dog Blog.  It's just what we needed for our homeschool and for the Tail Waggin' Tutors program.  Thanks, y'all!!!

Thanks, All Things Dog Blog!!

We've also been award two more blog awards.  Bert gifted us with the Irresistibly Sweet award several weeks ago.  (My secretary has been reprimanded for waiting til now to post it.)

Here are some rules n'stuff.

1. Thank and link back to the person who like gave you the award.

2. Share seven random facts about yourself.

3. Pass the award onto five deserving recipients.

4. Contact those who you have forwarded this award onto.

#1   -  The Person Who Gave Us This Award

Our bestest, bloggie, buddy, Bert shared this award with us.  Bert is a special boy that lives close to Heaven we think - at least it looks that way from most of the pictures His Vicky shares.  Bert is a Search and Rescue dog and a Therapy Dog.  He always knows how to have a good time, and he and His Vicky live life to the fullest.  We LOVE their blog!!! Thanks, Bertie boy.  We wuf vu!!

#2 - Seven Random Facts About Yours Truly
1.  I am the most handsome dog in our pack.  Oh wait, these are suppose to be facts - not opinions. But in my opinion, it is a fact.  I guess it works!
2.  I am very smart.  And humble.
3.  I was the last puppy left in my litter.  Those other folks don't know what they missed out on, but I suppose God saved the best for last and for my Mom!
4.  I like to eat un-used toilet paper.
5.  I sometimes try to eat the kitty when Mom's not looking.
6.  I love getting dirty.
7.  I like barking - often - and randomly.

#3 and #4
This is always the hard part for us cause seriously, if we didn't like your blog, we wouldn't waste our time visiting it.  So you guys look through my blog list on the right and go visit someone new.  They are all good, fun critters - honestly!  (Again, if they weren't they wouldn't be there.)  And for y'all listed in the blog list, you are obviously irresistibly sweet, so considered yourself tagged.

Then today we were gifted the Noteworthy Archives Award from Stella over at Just Ramblin'

Stella is a Newfoundland puppy just a bit older than me.  She's enjoying life and her human has some interesting points of view along the way.  Go visit 'em!!  You'll be glad you did!

We have been receiving lots of pictures for the Labor Day Back to School Bash first ever PAWM.  (That's dog for "prom" for you two-leggers that don't fully appreciate the workings of the canine mind.)  It's going to be a fabulous event, dahling.  Don't miss out!  Some dogs are going all out - dates and corsages included - while others are prancing about in the good furs God gave 'em.  It don't matter, dawg!  Just be there!!  AROOOF!  Send those pics (and any questions) to our mom at agapepuppylove@gmail.comOh, and if you want your pic linked to your site, please include that URL too.

Oh, and while we're thinking about it, how do you like our new look?  We thought it went with our funky vibe and whimsical personalities.  We hope you like it.

Boon's Sunday Sermons - #1

So last night mom and I had a pow-wow.  We were considering the blog and the natural course it has taken.  We realized that we have been leaving a chief element of who we are out of The Love Shack Pack blog - our faith.

Now before you turn up your nose and high-tail it in the opposite direction, let me assure you that you are not going to be "preached at" here - rather encouraged and hopefully inspired.  We aren't here to judge you - just to share how the love of God has changed our lives for the better.

For today's first message, I'd like to share a piece Mom wrote many moons ago about a dog that she once had.  Enjoy and be blessed.

"Bella Rose"
Living Loved

My little Cocker Spaniel, Bella Rose, was also scheduled to be spayed. This had been yet another cause of concern for me. Bella Rose is extremely afraid of people. Anyone who does not live in our house is a threat to her. I was worried about how she would react with me leaving her with strangers. I was worried about how she would react when they tried to kennel her or reach in the kennel to retrieve her.

When we pulled up to the vet's office there was a sign on the door stating they'd be back soon. It provided me a perfect opportunity to read the latest book that has caught my attention: He Loves Me by Wayne Jacobsen. I had just finished a chapter about trusting God and how His love for us drives out all fear when the vet returned.

Two other people had pulled up while I was waiting. As we all piled out of our cars, Bella Rose became nervous. When she saw the other people and their dogs, she began pulling against the leash. I decided it best to sit outside with her and let the office clear out before taking her inside. It was a good choice.

My fears were not to be unfounded. As the folks came and went walking past her but never coming near her, she ran the full extent that her leash attached to my hand would allow her to go... or as she saw it "as far from danger as possible." I tried to comfort her to no avail. I spoke softly promising I would allow no one to hurt her. Had she trusted me, she could have calmed down and not worried. Had she realized the extent of my love for her, it would have driven out her fear.
It clicked. God was telling me the same thing. He spoke softly to my heart promising His protection and covering over me. He told me that He knows the plans He has for me: to prosper me, to give me a future and a hope! He promised that He was going to work all things together for my good because I love Him.
And it proved true. Perfect love casts out all fear. I am able to walk through the day in peace even in the things that remain unknown because I have cast my cares on my Lord knowing He cares for me! I am refreshed. I am resting in His arms and in His love.
1 John 4:18 - There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.

Mom Learned a New Word

Me at 2 months/
We've shared this Dean Koontz quote before, but it is good and true and deserves to be repeated.

"Golden retrievers are not bred to be guard dogs, and considering the size of their hearts and their irrepressible joy in life, they are less likely to bite than to bark, less likely to bark than to lick a hand in greeting. In spite of their size, they think they are lap dogs, and in spite of being dogs, they think they are also human, and nearly every human they meet is judged to have the potential to be a boon companion who might, at many moment, cry, "Let's go!" and lead them on a great adventure."

Most recently when Mom re-read this statement, a new word popped out.

Boon.

Hey, that's what she calls me!

Mom looked it up right away.

boon

noun
1. something to be thankful for; blessing; benefit

Me at 4 months.

I might have been born and raised in the "Boondocks", but I am a "boon" for sure.

Mom says not only am I a huge blessing, but everyday I give her something to be thankful for.

Me at 6 months.

And that's what it's all about.

Lots of Exciting Things Going On!!

Dawgs, guess what!  The Love Shack Pack is today's featured guest at Coffee With A Canine.  Hop right on over to read never before shared, behind the scenes info about my family!  (But before you get too excited, finish reading this blog first.)

Me trying to finish off mom's frappe.  No such luck.  She'd cleaned it dry!

We are also very excited about Frankie Furter's Back to School Blogville Bash on Labor Day weekend.  We are even hosting a PAWM for the event.  No peeples allowed... this one is for the furry purr-suasion only.

(Dat's Mom on the far right on her Prom night many, many moons ago.)

Though I have never been to a PAWM before, I have many great ideas about the event.  I hope you all will participate.  We're going to let our fur down and have a good, ole time.

Here's what Frankie says about it:

"Dress fur this is... Formal or INformal... or... if you have been HATTED by Sammy Andy and Shelly... Those pics would be WONDERFUL.. If you don't like to wear clothes.. in the furs will be FINE too.. Just EVERYBUDDY plan to COME to the PAWm... "

Pawm will be held Saturday, September 3rd.  So get those pictures in ASAP to mom at agapepuppylove@gmail.com .  What are you waiting for??  Get busy, dawgs!

(And don't forget to check us out over at Coffee With A Canine!)

You dig it, dawgs??!!!
