Wordless Wednesday - Shelter Pets

Ok, not wordless, but words worth being shared.

HOME FOR CHRISTMAS: Black dogs have a hard time finding homes, so BARL is making a special Christmas plea. We are offering a reduced adoption donation fee of $40 'or best offer'. We do require a fenced yard, run, or outside kennel, unless the dog will be an inside dog, outside only on a leash. These dogs are spayed/neutered, current on heartguard, current on all vaccinations, and microchipped.  Give some love this Christmas season by inviting a new friend to join your family!

Visit us online at www.barl.net for more information.  You can view all of our adoptable pets at petfinder.

Mom went yesterday to take Christmas pics of some of the black pups available.  These guys were fun to work with and had tons of personality!!  She also took some pics of some new babies.  Aren't they adorable??

Boon's Sunday Sermon #15 - White As Snow

We've shared more than once that mom really gets into the whole Christmas scene.  This year she decided that in addition to the whimsical, family tree in the living room, she'd like to set up a more traditional tree in her bedroom.  She shopped for the perfect ornaments for her perfect tree for over an hour.  She walked through the Christmas department with her cart loaded full of colored balls and accessories before making the final decision to go with a red and white themed tree.

Last night as mom laid in bed staring at the tree, a scripture from Isaiah came to mind.  It says, "Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be white as snow."

The red and white tree suddenly took on a special meaning.  It reminded us of the gift Christ came to give us - that through the shedding of His blood, we can have eternal life with Him.

There is no sin too big for His blood to cover.  There is no wrong that can take His love away.

Romans 8:38, 39 says, "For I am convince…

Decking the Halls

Well, things didn't go quite as planned... but they seldom do around here.

Instead of heading to a tree farm to cut down our tree, we decided to put our old artificial one up instead.  Mom was scared we dogs would be led into temptation to mark our territory should a real tree exist inside of our home.

After lunch yesterday we headed out to decorate the outside of the house.  I was in charge of supervising, but quickly became distracted by the piles of leaves.  So I left the heavy work to Dad and Jaden, while Connor and I played, played, played.

Do you remember that one of our traditions is decorating in our pj's?  Well, I don't have any of those, so I just participated in the furs God gave me.  Everyone else looked pretty silly!!

My peeples took several play breaks during the work...  Dad helped Connor ride his bike with one training wheel off and then had leave wars with Dacey and Jaden.  They make being peeples look so fun!!

Somehow they still managed to get the work done.

It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like -

CHRISTMAS!!

As we've said before, mom goes hog wild at Christmas time.  She believes that we should celebrate Thanksgiving and Christmas in our hearts every day - not just one day a year.  So for the entire season, we have one thing going after another.  Gifts aren't nearly as important as opportunities to make memories - and all of our favorite Christmas memories include our favorite Christmas traditions.

We've already shared that after our meal Thursday, we will head out to cut down a tree, and look at light displays.  Then Friday we'll decorate the entire house.

Each year each of the humans get a new ornament to add to the Christmas tree.  All of the dogs have one on the tree too - although we are somewhat jipped cause we don't get new ornaments each year.  With this being mine and Kudzu's first Christmas, mom has been on the lookout for the pawfect ornament for us.  She has yet to find mine but is sure she will.  She found one that looked enough like Kudzu tha…

Boon's Sunday Sermon #14 - Why? Because We Love YOU

Today we are sharing a post from Mom's archives.  This message has been strong on our heart this week and we wanted to share it with y'all because we love you and want to know that you have had the opportunity to know Jesus as Lord and Savior.  Read on.  If you have any questions following this post, feel free to ask in the comments or send us an email.  We will answer them as best we can.

How much must you hate someone?

A while back a youtube video circulated through the online Christian community of famed magician Penn Jillette talking about a touching experience he'd had with a "good" man during one of his shows. Jillette is a known atheist. He seems to be just as devout an atheist as I am a Christian. However, during this show this "good man", as Jillette often referred to him, offered Jillette a Gideon Bible.

Instead of being offended by the gesture, Jillette was touched. Though still passionately denying the existence of God, he said, "If you be…

Thankful Thursday - And they call it puppy love...

As strange as it may be - it all started with a dog.  Well, there was a mutual attraction too, but the first time Mom met Dad, he stood at the back of her truck petting her dog, Rowdy.  They spent four hours together that first night and were inseparable ever after.  Four months later they were married on Mom's lunch break.  Fourteen years later, here we are.

Mom and Dad have a love story that is better than any you see depicted in movies.  What they have is real and beautiful.  It hasn't always been easy, but it's always been worth it.

Happy Anniversary, Mom and Dad!  We are thankful for the love and life God has blessed you both with.

We helped the kids put together a special scrapbook for their big day.  Here are some of the pictures:
